Visited Ghent, a university town about a half hour train ride from Brussels. With a lot less crowds (compared to Brugges) yet a very tightly woven town of structures both old and new with only the sky and the canals to give you relief and of course the delightfully young and friendly locals. A town that charms you with it’s architectural verve, the strong smell of coffee, the mild sweetness of it’s cakes and the feeling that you could never really get lost here and it’s all one big, giant loop peppered with monuments and roads and trams that whisk you away! .
