Many artists have experimented and created very powerful art with the simple stroke of a line. The intersection of lines, adds yet another dimension and character to a piece as witnessed in the Borghese rug. As the lines form a pattern, the rug quietly provides the perfect foil to ground the room and it's furnishings ever so gently.  The highlight of the Borghese rug, however, are the corner details, created by carving specialists who use rather scary looking hand tools to carve between each of the short lines that make the blanket stitch corners. But you wouldn't know that as you run your fingers through it and feel the little bumps the carving creates. Only a reminder of the fond feeling you get with the hand-stitched corners of a favorite blanket.
